I joined the Explorer’s Expedition June 2026 with Jordan and Rich - such a memorable time and definitely the highlight of my summer.
Jordan is the ultimate pro at planning and reacting to changing circumstances in the wilderness. Our trip had a few legit curveballs with weather and epic tree deadfall. Jordan did a perfect job adjusting the trip and calmly leading the way. I have a decent chunk of outdoor experience and learned so much - cooking a fish on coals, starting a fire in pouring rain, identifying useful plants (fir tip lemon tea, yum), and way more. Finishing up the last night with northern lights was the cherry on top.
If you’re in solid backpacking shape and looking to really adventure I would highly recommend the trek. By day 7 Jordan loosens up and fully unleashes that sense of humor 😂. Amazing time, amazing people.
I did both the “Wilderness expedition” and “Wilderness Course” this summer over 2 weeks and can say it’s one of the best adventures I’ve ever done. Although I’m an enthusiastic hiker, like most big city dwellers I’d never experienced going off-trail, fishing, chopping down wood to start a fire, knowing which plants make the best toilet paper….etc! But as cool as it was to do all these things, what I enjoyed the most was getting to know the people in the group of whom each person had a fantastic attitude and it was a tonne of fun to spend that time with them.
If you know that you are fit enough to carry a backpack with camping gear for 10 miles across mountainous terrain then I’d highly recommend the “Wilderness Expedition” because although its hard, if you’re anything like me, you’ll find that rewarding in itself. And you’ll pick up clever outdoor skills along the way anyway.
If not then the “Wilderness Course” structure may be more suitable because it removes the physical aspect so instead of hiking into the wilderness you get flown in by bush plane and a mule train carries the heavy bags. Then the whole days are focused on skills such as fishing, making traps, processing an animal etc.
Our week out with Jordan and Ben was one of the best outdoor experiences I've had in my life. As someone who spends the majority of their time outdoors that's really saying something. From way the trip is planned to how they accommodate changing circumstances while ensuring an amazing time is very impressive. Their immense knowledge of nature and the wild never ceased to amaze our group, and they are excellent at sharing their knowledge and teaching others. I would highly recommend booking a trip with Jonas Expeditions, you won't regret it.
Trip of a lifetime. Felt like Lewis and Clark exploring Montana. Jordan and Ben are amazing and really knowledgeable. Learned so much from them. Can't wait for the next trip.
5 stars. Amazing adventure. We don't normally take guided trips, but this was incredible all around, from the guide, to the experience, to the knowledge, to the adventure. You'll learn a lot, it will be hard, you will love it.
What an experience! My wife and I and are two boys had an amazing time on the Family Adventure that Jonas Expeditions offers. I don't know where to start when it comes to what an amazing time it was. Jordan has a knack for meeting people where they are, engendering a sense of trust quickly as a result of his skillset and temperament, and also challenging you in just the right ways. On the 3 night camping experience, we learned how to start a fire without a lighter (ferro rod and fatwood), all kinds of uses for our multitools and an axe, tie various essential knots, fish and flyfish with a lot more expertise (we caught and ate so many rainbow and cutthroat trout), shoot a bow and arrow, among many other skills. On one of the days we went on a trek that was over 7hrs and involved getting to see 4 mountain lakes. Jordan checked in with us to make sure he wasn't pushing too hard, but my family loves to hike and is very active so it was great that he gave us the confidence to just keep going...over massive boulders, through brush, and over creeks. It was awesome and my boys had the best time! In addition to all of this, Jordan and his family are simply incredible people of incredibly high character. They helped my wife and I do exactly what we were hoping to do which is to expose our boys to a little discomfort and some cool challenges all while they were having an incredible time. This is the way to grow, for kids and grownups.
Awesome experience hiking the back country with Jordan, Rich, and the crew on an Explorer Expedition June 2026. Jordan has such a positive attitude and I learned so much from him and being in the backcountry. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants to make memories and connect with great people.
I cannot say enough good things about Jordan Jonas and his survival course. My husband and I chose this as our honeymoon and it was the best experience ever!! From the remote beauty of the Bitterroot Wilderness, you not only get your chance to learn some survival skills and put them to use but you get a chance to hang out, hear stories and learn from one of the most humble, creative, intelligent and kind person we've every met. Jordan has a WEALTH of knowledge in wildcraft & survival skills and yet he delivers it so effortlessly, with humor and with patience. My husband and I were truly impressed by Jordan and his team, the accommodations and organization of it all, the vast amount of skills we learned and the bonds we made on such a short trip. Thank you Jordan and we wish all the success to you and your team and your family!!!! - Jess & Ari
I can't speak highly enough of the Explorer's trip i took with Jordan and Rich as guides. There were so many great things about the trip including (i) the generous knowledge shown by the guides with respect to building fires, chopping dead trees, fishing, foraging for mushrooms, berries and plants, (ii) the physical rigor of traversing in the backwoods of Idaho where we didn't encounter a single person during the 7 days, (iii) becoming fast friends with the other participants who came from all walks of life and across the globe, (iv) the delicious cutthroat trout that could have been served at a fine restaurant. it was a trip of a lifetime and i will cherish the memories.
An experience so amazing I had to go back for a second year!
If you are looking for a wild unique experience, this is definitely one of them. Jordan and the team are amazing people to be around, plus they are full of survival knowledge and problem solving skills. They even pack a little humor into the trip. A moment out in the woods can help a lot of people out. Give it a try, you wont regret it.
Hands down, this was one of the best experiences in my life!
A bunch of friends and me went on a 1 week hiking trip with Jordan and his brother Ben in Montana. We had a tough program (as requested) through the back country. We haven't seen a single soul during the entire trip and were fully disconnected from society as we didn't even had cell service. It's been a full reset from daily life, all problems and stress left behind. Every day you've been fully locked in, focused on the daily mission ahead. It's been lots of work to do every day like setting up camp, taking it all down the next morning, start a fire, find cover from rain and so forth but that made everything more special. It's been really hard at times but once all work has been done, the rewards have been absolutely incredible. The scenery has been breathtaking, fresh caught fish and fresh collected mushrooms from the campfire have been insanely tasty. Every morning and every evening we spent around the campfire, listening to all the stories and experiences of Jordan and Ben was amazing. My stomach hurt of laughing sometimes. We have also learned a lot out there. Learned practical skills like knots, fishing technique, about plants or how to start a fire in the rain.
I could go on and on, there is so much to tell. After just 1 week out there I felt different, more present and calm and that feeling lasted for weeks after. I can just recommend anyone to try and experience it if you're willing to suffer for some time to get all that delayed gratification afterwards.
This trip happened in August 2025, our next trip will be in September 2026 and I hope there will be many more to come!
In 2022 I completed a five-day excursion with Jordan Jonas, John Hale, and Callie Russell, alongside an incredible group of people—including my mom, which made the experience especially meaningful.
Over those five days, we learned and practiced real survival skills: catching cutthroat trout, foraging native plants, building traps, making fire without modern tools, and even spending a full day sourcing our own food. It was challenging in the best way and gave me a much deeper respect for the effort and awareness required to live off the land.
On the fourth day, we were given two route options back to base camp. I chose the longer but less steep 14-mile hike. About four miles in, I slipped on bear grass and severely injured my ankle, tearing three ligaments. With roughly 10 miles still ahead, the situation could have been much worse without the team I was with.
The level of preparedness and professionalism from Jordan, Callie, and John stood out immediately. They had the right equipment, clear communication, and a calm, steady approach that made a difficult situation manageable. Callie and John stayed with me step by step, helping me continue forward safely, while coordinating with Jordans hiking group though their GPS phone's to make a plan.
Because of the terrain, evacuation wasn’t simple. They arranged for their outfitter to meet us with mules before dark, which ultimately allowed me to get back to base camp safely. The following morning, I was able to ride out of the mountains and get to medical care.
What could have been a much more serious outcome was handled with skill, care, and experience. I’m incredibly grateful—not just for the support I received in that moment, but for the opportunity to learn from people who clearly take both the experience and the safety of their group seriously.
This trip challenged me, and despite the injury, it’s something I value deeply. I walked away with practical skills, a new perspective, and a strong appreciation for the people who guided us through it.
I would rate it a 10/5 if I could. It was an experience of a lifetime.
This was one of the most enjoyable and important trips of my life. I highly recommend it!
Absolutely unforgettable! Jordan created a life changing experience for me and everyone else on our trip. Could not recommend more!
Highly recommend! Best of the best!
Getting the opportunity to spend some time in the wilderness with Jordan and Co is one of my favorite adventures that I have experienced. The level of knowledge that he and his team has made me feel so comfortable and at home in the back country. I would recommend him and his team to anyone who wants to experience some time in the wild.
Great trip! The Bitterroot is amazing. Truly wild and endless. The trip was great for all skill levels, there was something to learn and do every day
Jordan Jonas survivalism expedition was a life-changing experience. I traveled in 2023 and am still friends with people from my trip. Jordan brings a great sense of adventure and humor to every challenge, and it's contagious.
Signing up for this experience was one of the best decisions I have made. You get to meet the coolest people who truly understand nature, and that life is so much more than what we usually perceive. You won't ever forget Jordan's character and his beautiful ever playful and relentless soul. The best part is we're still in touch even though it's been years. I totally recommend that you challenge yourself and let your inner self expand.. Jordan will take good care of you.
There I was, 15 miles into the backcountry of the Bitterroot Mountain range with nothing but my handmade nettle clothing (stingy) and a gourd full of grubs (gritty) Jordan helped me forage. After a long week of living on trout guts and birch bark while avoiding storms in a burned out ponderosa log, this was a real treat. Ok, none of that's true. What is true is that Jordan's trips are incredible and everyone should do one. You don't have to eat worms and it's all very comfortable. You're gonna learn some serious skills and feel like a human again. Looking forward to doing another one, next time with my son.
Do it. Great time with great people and you will leave with an experience you will be telling people about for the rest of your life
Some real life-changing stuff going to the mountains with Jordan & his family. You won’t regret it.
We simply loved Jordan and Janahlee and the trip was amazing! cant wait to get back out there with Jordan. the perfect combination of a real wilderness trip and outdoors experience coupled with all that we needed for the entire family to feel safe and each one enjoy themselves despite different ages, and expectations (and no phone..) - we have come back and will come back again!
Had awesome experience's both times going on Jonus guided hunts. Would love to do a survival trip too at some point. Jordan does a great job at giving you an experience that's even better than you expected. Highly recommend a trip!
Jordan Jonas is awesome. Did a week with him in the bitter roots and it did not disappoint. You'll have an unforgettable experience.
One of my most memorable experiences!
I spent a week in the mountains with Jordan and Ben. An experience of a lifetime!!!
Jordan is the best, just don’t trust him when he says “it’s right up and over this mountain”….he means it’s right up and over two or three mountains…but the destination is ALWAYS worth it
Whether you are seeking to push your limits or pick up some essential wilderness skills, Jordan is your guy. I will tell you, fly fishing in his neck of the woods has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my entire life. Be prepared to make new friends, explore hidden backcountry gems, and learn more about yourself. Can’t wait to get back out there again one day.
I was fortunate enough to travel to 14 different countries in 2022, and the week in the wilderness with Jordan & Ben was my favorite experience of that entire year. So much so that I came back 2 years later for another expedition with them. The kindness, wisdom, and overall mindset of the Jonas Brothers really is contagious.
The Wilderness Course was the perfect playground to actually get out into the wild to learn and practice with the best teachers in the world. The Explorers Expedition was an awesome bushwhacking adventure straight out of LOTR.
Despite being an avid outdoorsman myself, on the first trip I got lost on the way back to camp one night after a solo fishing mission and was all alone in the wilderness with literally no shirt on my back. After a moment of panic I realized that I had everything I needed to survive with a knife/ferro rod to make a fire, and handmade fishing tools for food. Getting lost and realizing that I got this was a profoundly peaceful knowingness that I will carry with me for the rest of days adventuring in the mountains.
Also, Janahlee is a total sweetheart and legend for cooking us mountain lion burritos to start off our trip and greeting us with a giant box of Cheeze-Its after a week in the mountains when we were craving some salty crunchy goodness. Can't recommend Jonas Expeditions enough!
Jordan organizes the most raw, analog and authentic experiences you can have.
Life-changing experience!
Jordan's survival camp was the adventure of a lifetime - he's the real deal, is generous with his knowledge, and he has so much to teach!
Awesome experience!!! I will never forget catching fish with a willow stick and a rock I found for weight. Highly recommend!
Jordan and Janahlee are amazing people. We ran into a short weather delay and had an opportunity to spend a few hours shooting and chatting at their place. They provide awesome adventures which I highly recommend. You can't go wrong when the people are better than the incredible land in Idaho backcountry!
I got into bow hunting and archery a few years ago. I took Jordan's class last June and harvested my first elk in September. Not only did the course teach me a bunch of useful new skills, it also gave me a ton of confidence and clarity. On top of all that, it was super fun and full of laughs. Jordan, Rich and Cade were awesome guides and the comradery with the whole group was second to none. I've traveled a lot of the world and this was my favorite trip I've taken. I highly recommend an adventure with Jordan for anyone and everyone. Good for the mind, body and soul.
I was able to go out on a mountain lion hunt through Jordan Jonas and it was absolutely amazing. His guide Dan was honestly as good as it gets! The knowledge of the back country, mixed with the hospitality back at camp was superb!!! The bar has been set high!! I highly recommend any sort of trip through Jordan Jonas!
Iceland is a beautiful country. On Jordan's expedition, you get to experience it fully. Elli & other guys from Iceland make it so authentic and Jordan adds his contagious vibe. Hikes, views, highlands, amazing lakes, and weather to challenge you. Go try.
On the way home from an amazing expedition in the highlands of Iceland. My brother and I signed on after hearing Jordan on a podcast and it was one of the best travel experiences either of us has ever had. Nature threw us a few curveballs during our trip, but Jordan and his team were able to immediately adapt our itinerary and maintain a fantastic experience. We will definitely be looking at future trips!!
The Advanced Explorers Expedition was a truly unique and incredible experience. Jordan, Ben and Cade are all amazing people. The experience was everything I could have imagined, and then some. We had the opportunity to hike off trail, scale mountain peaks, visit remote lakes and rivers, fish, forage and learn practical skills to survive and thrive in the wilderness. The scenery was absolutely breathtaking. This experience was difficult to put into words but if you have any interest at all I HIGHLY recommend booking one of Jordan’s trips.
I came all the way from Switzerland. I highly recommend doing any of Jordan’s trips there great fun. I was in a group of seventeen year old boys and we flew with a bush plane and fished in some of the most beautiful places ever. It was a experience that I loved and will never forget.
Jordan Jonas’s Wilderness Expeditions kicks ass. The whole thing was hands-on, practical, and legitimately fun. Jordan and his crew made everything feel natural, never forced—just good people leading great trips. Came back exhausted but completely energized by the experience. Highly recommended 10/10
I sought out Jonas Expeditions to learn from the greats I admire, especially Jordan Jonas. His screen persona inspired me to enjoy self-sustainability in challenging conditions. Wilderness knowledge provides confidence and freedom to enjoy nature’s bounty and rejoin its rhythm. As society moves away from nature, I find myself more drawn to it—a gift to experience before it’s gone. Joining Jordan and his crew for a week-long wilderness course was a profound experience. Despite my physical limitations, I embraced the challenge and pushed myself to keep up. The camaraderie among the group was exceptional, and the guides’ openness, expertise, and support made the learning process enjoyable. This wilderness course provided a unique opportunity for an introvert and loner like me to grow and connect with nature through a shared interest. The joy of being in nature was palpable, and I cherish the memories made with my comrades and Jordan. This is the way ;)
Jordan and Ben are wonderful, I enjoyed my time spent on the wilderness course and will be going on future trips as my schedule allows.
I cannot thank Jordan and Ben enough for leading us on the Advanced Explorer’s Expedition ‘24. They led our group over 7 nights through a variety of terrains/climates that pushed us all mentally and physically. I believe we all learned so much about how to handle oneself in various wilderness situations. More importantly, I believe we all learned a lot about ourselves and what we are capable of achieving. Jordan and Ben are the absolute best. Their knowledge and competence in the wilderness are unprecedented. I will carry the skills I learned, along with the memories made for many years to come. Huge shout out to Janahlee for the logistical planning. Her planning, communication, responsiveness was amazing and paved way for an epic trip. I recommend this course-or any one with the Jonas family- unconditionally. I hope to find my way back.
A huge thank you to Jordan, Ryan, and Janahlee for orchestrating an unforgettable camping experience in the Northwest Territories! We had the chance to explore several locations from Alone Season 6, which added an extra layer of excitement. The highlight was an overnight hike to an incredible waterfall, with some of the best fishing spots I’ve ever encountered. We spent an entire day fishing and caught the biggest lake trout I’ve ever seen.Jordan, Ryan, and Janahlee were exceptional hosts. Their genuine nature and eagerness to share their extensive knowledge and experiences made the trip even more special. This adventure was not just about the breathtaking scenery but also about the fantastic company and insights shared along the way. Highly recommend this experience to anyone looking for an authentic and exhilarating camping trip!
I’m a city dweller who had only ever car camped, but I’ve always admired those who are capable in the outdoors. Some say full immersion is the best way to learn a language, and I signed up for the Wilderness Course looking for a similarly focused experience. I had some “solo traveler feeling out of her element” questions leading up to the trip, and every reply from Jordan and Janahlee was supportive and encouraging. They're such genuinely caring and cool people and I swear could become friends with anyone. The remote SelwayBitterroot Wilderness was the ideal environment to take in the breadth of knowledge and skills that were taught by Jordan, Cade & Rich, three of the kindest guides/teachers/camp chefs you could hope for. It’s clear that they love what they do, and love sharing with others. I can't fully convey how educational, inclusive, empowering, meaningful, beautiful, FUN this trip was, but it was one of the best experiences of my life and 5 stars aren't enough. Thank you al...
I'll be eternally grateful to Jordan and Ben for leading such a fun, challenging and eyeopening expedition. Shoutout to Janahlee for great communication leading up to the trip, as well as cooking us a mean breakfast and doing the pickup/dropoffs from the trail. On the expedition, we were always on the move. We discovered bear, wolf, elk and moose tracks as well as high mountain lakes that hadn't been fished in decades. Catching native trout on a bushcraft fly was a true highlight. Jordan and Ben have such a deep, intellectual knowledge and appreciation for the woods, made apparent by their captivating stories around the campfire from their days in the backcountry, backlit by the same nightsky that the natives and mountain men alike observed, save all the starlink satellites whizzing by. We learned all about fire starting techniques, edible berries/medicinal plants, emergency shelters, knots, tips/tricks for exploring the backcountry and much more. Thank you for everything.
The Advanced Explorer's Expedition was epic. Over eight days we navigated rugged terrain, scrambled over boulders, found snow in mid August, fished, and relied on our wits in a land without trails. The course pushed me physically and mentally. Such an intense and rewarding adventure offering a deep connection to nature and a profound sense of accomplishment. Jordan and Ben are the most kind, resilient and humble people to have around. Glad to have come back for a second year in a row. :) Thank you immensely also to Janahlee and everyone in my group, made some good friends that I will miss!
Great week! Jordan and Ben led our Advanced Explorers trip on an 8-day journey through the Idaho Bitterroots. We started with a hearty breakfast and outfitting at Jordan's, then climbed into the wilderness with only the packs on our backs. The only trails were on day 1 and day 8, and everything else was backcountry routefinding - mountain saddles, scree fields, boulder hopping, alpine lakes, springs and meadows, trout fishing, swimming, campfires, and the great night sky! I am 44 and had not done this kind of adventure for 15 years, but myself and everyone on the trip did great both mentally and physically. Jordan and Ben are two of the kindest people I've ever met, and I am proud to have spend a week on the trail with them. I had never watched 'Alone', though the stories from the show are funny and great! I recommend this trip to anyone needing to reconnect with wild America and who wants to learn from the best guides ever! Cheers!
What a week! After planning for months, our family trip of 10 Denton brothers, sons & nephews finally happened. We have a tradition of marking passage of our boys into young adulthood with adventure. As our boys are now older, my brother Kevin suggested a 2.0 version of this tradition. What better way than spending the week in the wilderness with Jordan, Ben and Rich as guides! Many miles were hiked, many water bottles filled, cool streams & lakes relieved hot adventurers. Delicious meals were enjoyed, skills were learned, personal goals achieved. There’s nothing like an extended time in the wild to reframe priorities and center one’s soul. A huge thank you to Jahnalee for all of the info, prep and hospitality, and to Jordan, Ben and Rich (and the Llamas!) for an amazing week together. To a man, every one in our family already knows the outdoors, being hikers, climbers, fishermen, hunters, but this trip, together, and led by our amazing guides, was an experience in a class by ...
Jordan and his team are the real deal! I did the Wilderness course with my father inlaw and spent an amazing week in the deep wilderness laughing, learning, adventuring, and decompressing from the modern world. We both had the time of our lives. 1 week was not long enough. I recommend this course to anyone of any skill leveI whether you've never gone camping before, or you're a veteran outdoorsmen. Jordan and his team masterfully welcome everyone from all walks of life and create an experience that anyone will thrive in at their own pace and style. It' very relaxed and fun but you can also learn as much as could possibly absorb. Jordan has more info, knowledge, and stories than he could ever fully share. Him, Cade and Rich are some of the funniest, laid back, most knowledgeable and interesting people I've met and I can't recommend any experience they're offering highly enough. I look forward to more adventures with them in the future like the family expedition or a guided hunt
What are the words to try to explain the experience and everything you get to encounter and be a part of In the backcountry of the Selway mountains. It was a humbling experience. It was gratifying. It was filled with joy and excitement, and not knowing what to expect and have all of your expectations being met at the same time. I met all types of people that I wouldn’t of met in my daily life just because of location and pesky passports needed to enter other countries and we all laughed ALOT and the banter was by far the best. Thank you Cayde and Rich! What great guides. They took care of us from food, lessons, experiences and how to use them daily and giving us the boost of selfconfidence you didn’t know you needed until you got it and you were doing things that you would never do on your own. I felt a week wasn’t enough and they truly want everyone to see and enjoy what they do and share all they have (minus the creamer rich). I was honored to be apart. Thank you thank you ...
This is something I feel like everyone has to do if able and Jordan is the perfect man for the job. There are very few people out there who are has hospitable and kind. His knowledge in the many things centered around the outdoors runs deep. From identifying all sorts of different flowers, berries, saps on trees, to footprints, knots and traps. It was very insightful. We had an amazing time hiking through the mountains, fishing at lakes and sleeping under the stars. I would not want to have done this under the guidance of any other person. Thank you Jordan, khona
I embarked on an adventure, the most demanding yet enriching chapter of my life. Jordan, a wilderness encyclopedia, guided us through crafting traps, fishing, and gutting fish. The hikes were intense and stunning, and every challenge was overshadowed by breathtaking views. Beyond survival, he taught character-building—self-care, addressing injuries, and navigating with humility. What stood out was not just practical knowledge but deeper lessons in humility and camaraderie. Jordan made us feel like family; our shared Assyrian identity connected us. Amid common cultural roots, our differences became integral to our shared experience. The group became like family. This trip was transformative, a lifealtering odyssey. Jordan's guidance is about more than survival; it's trusting oneself and others. The cost is an investment in personal growth, the return immeasurable. This journey is about thriving in unexpected corners, and Jordan is the perfect guide!
This is the Jordan Jonas experience. Nothing else like it in the world. Seeing Jordan and Cade in action was a sight to behold. Watching them bushcraft, fish, gather and cook and co-working alongside them is the ultimate learning experience. Jordan attracted a world class group, including folks from UK, Portugal and Canada. We all connected remarkably quickly and co-created fires, meals, fishing rods, utensils, campsites and even a chessboard. Nothing brings people together like survival. The amount of freedom we had and the laid back style was something I’ve never seen but really enjoyed. Jordan’s friend Rich is an expert fly fisherman and helped us all catch fish! Jordan showed us backcountry fish recipes that will be hard to replicate! It was a badass experience that was different from anything I’ve done. I think every trip they run is unique and I look forward to trying another one. Janahlee and Rich’s wife deserve an honorable mention the great food
I made the journey from Canada to soak up as much information as I can from Jordan. What I expected was an educational adventure in the wilderness. What we got was so much more. This was one of the most incredible experiences ever. Jordan and his team are so kind, friendly and down to earth that it felt like you were just hanging out with friends all week. We laughed, we learned, and we even sang some songs . If you're on the fence about this trip, the knowledge that you will gain from it, the experiences you will hand, and the friends that you will make will last a lifetime. Don't overthink it. Just do it.
What a unique and amazing experience! Jordan really is a master at his craft, and he's hilarious! He showed us all the tricks of the trade, but watching him in action is where the magic truly happens. From eating wild berries while he hiked in flip flops, to navigating tricky terrain to pop out on a game trail like he had the land memorized was really eye opening to how completely competent Jordan is in the outdoors. Even his friend Rich who helped with the trip said that he still learns from Jordan each time they go out. And how cool that Cade from s10 was there too! He brought his own livestock from Wyoming to outfit this expedition. He is the epitome of a real cowboy. I pushed my limits and came out stronger than before and I'm so proud of all I accomplished out there. Thank you guys for everything!
Jordan is the most selfless, compassionate, and caring person I have met. I was extremely anxious being a young solo female traveler but was instantly put at ease when I arrive. I was able to completely disconnect from life stressors and able to fully be present throughout the experience. It is extremely impressive how much knowledge and experience Jordan has and I felt privileged to be able to learn from him. Not to mention he has a great sense of humor. Along with him was Cade and Rich. Cade is an extremely hard working person. He packed our gear on his horses and also cooked us incredible food, food that he hunted himself which made it even more special. Rich is an experienced fishermen and taught us how to fly fish. Overall this experience and the people in my group will be something that I will always cherish. Hopefully we can reconnect in Alaska!
I could go on for ages talking about how this course truly can be life changing. Before attending, I read countless reviews and wondered if it could really be as good as they said. Lo and behold, the valuable lessons I've gained and the incredible experiences from this journey will always shape how I navigate and go about my life. The group we were a part of felt like we were bound together by our shared fascination with Jordan, Cade, and Rich – everyone's unique qualities and stories brought us close, and it didn't take long for us to feel like family. I can't stress enough how impactful this experience has been. A big thank you to Jordan, Janahlee, Cade, Rich, and everyone involved who ensured our safety and well-being throughout. Looking forward to the day I can return!
My son and I have just returned from one of Jordan's Wilderness Courses. It was an amazing experience and one that certainly surpassed all our expectations. Jordan's friendly and relaxed approach immediately puts you and your group at ease and creates a great environment for you to explore and learn based on your specific interests. We had a fantastic group, all drawn together by an interest in the outdoors, and this really added to the whole experience. Jordan also had two great people teaching alongside him, Rich, a local fly fisherman and hunter, and Cade (also on Alone), a cowboy packer and expert hunting guide from Wyoming. All in all it was an incredible experience and a truly memorable father and son trip that we will cherish forever.
I joined the Remote Wilderness Course Aug 14-19, 2023 and I found it transformational. It's hard to describe the experience to others now that I am home because it feels you truly had to be there to feel it. It is one of the most rewarding, engaging, and eye-opening experiences I have had, and I connected with others in our group as if they were lifelong friends. Jordan and his team shine in building a shared experience that gives each person the freedom to explore their own limits. I've witnessed first-hand how Jordan shares his teachings out of a place of personal joy and follows each person's interests to test out what's possible. You come away with training and skills, certainly, but you also build a new relationship with nature and others that share your passion. For anyone wondering whether to take a chance, I highly recommend you do.
I took part in the explorers course and I’ve been on many similar courses but nothing comes close to this experience! Jordan and his family are wonderful people. I really enjoyed being able to push myself mentally and physically by hiking through mountains, rough terrain and the wilderness. Adapting to a new environment meant I had the chance to build on my existing skills, as well as learn new ones with Jordan’s guidance - including catching my first fish in one of the creeks. Jordan and Ben are great teachers, they’re super friendly and authentic. They were able to pick up on group morale at challenging points to help boost motivation with endless stories and laughs. Watching them react to new surroundings was really insightful. If you’re in two minds about joining one of Jordan’s courses, just do it - you won’t be disappointed!
I took the first ever Explorer’s Expedition course, led by Jordan and his older brother Ben. You get to see just how wild and adventurous Jordan is; there is no slowing down that guy. And Ben was a great balancing force, just as rugged, and extremely supportive and helpful. Definitely a trip to remember. The overall theme was “okay we want to go to this far off lake, the trail only takes us 1/20th of the way there, so let’s break out the topo map and create the rest of the route.” Through boulder fields, snow, bushes, creeks, rivers, steep slopes, you name it and we plowed through it. When we had down time, we spent it foraging, practicing knots, learning fishing techniques, creating homemade lures, fire starting, learning traps and snares, and sitting around the fire joking around and telling stories. This particular course is not for the timid or weary. They really treat you like family and I’d highly recommend his courses to anyone interested. An insanely positive experience
From the sheer beauty and remoteness of the land, to the community, to the individual challenges and victories, this is one trip that I would never trade. Though I signed up for this trip alone, never once did I feel unsafe or overlooked. Rather, the skill, good-nature, and trustworthiness of the guides provided the perfect environment for learning and human connection in one of the most beautiful landscapes I have ever seen. I always had an interest in wilderness survival, but Jordan & Crew gave me the tools, confidence, and space to ignite, what I hope to be, a lifetime of learning.
Just back from an excellent week backpacking with Jordan in the Montana / Idaho backcountry. After taking the wilderness course last year, I returned this year for a different type of challenge, specifically geared towards backpacking. No surprise, Jordan was an excellent guide - and came back with some new tips and tricks, more confident in my backpacking game, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, with the much needed soul/mind reboot only time in nature can provide. Fish were caught, lakes were plunged, mountains climbed, and ridges explored.... Highly recommend a trip of this type for anyone wanting an adventure worth a good amount of leg work. Thanks Jordan.
The Jordan Jonas remote wilderness expedition was an adventure that created life-long memories. Tremendous thanks to our expert guides and instructors, Jordan Jonas, John Hale, Callie Russell and the exceptional staff at Cameron Outfitters. A physically, mentally and spiritually fulfilling experience. I have truly connected with the land and will never be the same...
A real privilege to be able to spend a week in the company of three people as capable, skilled, fun, engaging, patient and talented as Jordan, Ben and John. The course had its challenges (none of us will ever forget that mule ride!) but the three of them were always there, ever patient and warm-hearted, to see us through. A trip of a lifetime. So grateful to have had an opportunity to do it, and to have had the best three instructors one could ever hope for.
Jordan’s “Remote Wilderness Course” ranks right up there with one of the most amazing wilderness adventures anyone could take. What can you expect? * Lake and mountain views that no camera could do justice to * Survival training by 3 proven, experienced experts (Jordan Jonas (Alone winner), Ben Jonas (Alone the Beast) and John Hale (alternate for Alone S8) * Campfire stories and laughs you’ll pass down to your grandkids * Lessons on fire starting in wet/dry conditions, how to tie the right knot for the right condition, how to understand what the fish are biting on and make lures and flies that can knock them dead with minimal resources, traditional bow shooting, axe safety and techniques, snaring fundamentals, etc. * An option to leverage what you learned the last night in one of the high mountain lakes * A great chance to meet and form friendships with others who have similar interest as you. Would I do this all over again? Absolutely. This course was worth every penny.
Epic trip! Perfect mix of excellent instructors, other participants and scenery. That combination can't be found anywhere else. If you ended up on this page, then this trip is for you. Just book it, and maybe I'll see you when I return for another round.
I’m still in awe. Every session was laid back, personal, and fun. Time was never watched or considered. It was whatever you wanted to learn, in and within the blocks of instruction that Jordan taught…and the amount of fun and laughter was unbelievable. On top of the laid back atmosphere, the depth of knowledge that Jordan and his team possesses is astounding. They truly put everything into perspective on top of giving you practical, handson skills. I’m already looking for the next opportunity that I can go hang out with Jordan, Ben, and John again in the woods. Pull the trigger and take the course, you will not regret it. -Matt
I cannot recommend highly enough the experience of spending a week in the wilderness with Jordon Jonas! And his brother Ben and childhood friend John. All three brought incredible skills, hilarious stories and absolute enthusiasm. I had such a blast scaling rocky outcroppings, hiking into areas no humans had been for what appeared to be decades, swimming in pristine mountain lakes. I’m a stay at home Mom from NYC so this was not my realm. But the theme of the week was really bringing your attention, patience, gratitude and game to the tasks and the day. Jordon's adventures seem to attract an awesome group too. I left the trip more in love with my country and countrymen. It was AWESOME. Truly awesome. Go yourself to reset your life. Learn skills from the master. Or give the trip as a gift. For my son and I, it was the experience of a lifetime. Forget the bucket list; this will blow your bucket outta the water.THANK YOU AGAIN JORDON, BEN AND JOHN!!! Your diehard fans, Kara and JJ
If there is any small part of you thinking about taking this survival course, book it now. With very little experience camping or being in the wilderness, I was a bit hesitant and intimidated going into the trip, but after mere minutes with Jordan, Ben, and John, it was clear to me that I was in exceptional hands. More importantly, they helped me see that I, myself, was capable of more than I imagined. These three dudes will challenge you and teach you some incredible technical skills, but they also encourage a whole human experience by being genuinely hilarious, open-minded, and graceful. My week in the Bitterroot has been one of the most positively influential experiences of my adult life, and that's a testament to the magic that Jordan, Ben, and John have created out there. Book it now, meet some awesome folks, learn cool new nature skills to brag to your friends about, see some incomprehensible natural beauty, and get to know yourself a bit better <3
The survival course Jordan, Ben, and John have created is extraordinary. The course felt natural and organic. Campfire stories flowed into lessons about lure-making and archery. They encouraged us to move at our own pace, invest time in what mattered most to us, but also to relax, get to know one another, and enjoy the beauty of the area. The magic of the course stemmed from their incredible attitude. The three seemed so excited to share the lessons they had accrued throughout their extraordinary lives. As a result, pushing our boundaries felt natural. Their confidence, knowledge, and excitement put us at ease, and suddenly we found ourselves trying all sorts of new things. Finally, they fostered an environment in which participants supported each other and celebrated each other’s successes. The result was an experience in which we could learn but relax, make friends but also take time to ourselves, and all the while take in the beauty of the Bitterroots. I cannot recommend it enough.
This is something that you need to experience. It’s hard to put into words how life changing this experience was. Special thanks to Jordan, Ben, and John, as well as the Cameron’s. I wish I was back with y’all! Much love, Nate
This is an unbelievable trip led by wonderful and skilled people. Jordan is as skilled as he is kind. The week was hard, fun, breathtaking, mind blowing, and most of all enjoyable. Your relationship with the outdoors (and indoors actually) will never be the same and you'll be better for it. Thank you Jordan, Ben, Jon and the other awesome participants.
What an unbelievable experience!!! This was absolutely amazing, and I cannot recommend this enough. The entire week was the most memorable trip I've ever taken! Jordan, Ben and John were exceptional hosts, and we were constantly learning more survival tactics each day. They truly taught us to enjoy the outdoors instead of just survive though. I didn't really know what to expect going into the week, but this blew away anything that I could have imagined! Seize the opportunity and sign up! You won't regret it.
My o’ my, where do I begin? I am heading home after one of the most amazing weeks of my life. Just spent 6 days with Jordan in one of the most remote locations in the lower 48 for his advanced class. Mornings were spent drinking coffee watching the sunrise over the mountain range, days hiking and learning new skills to put into practice and evenings laughing around the campfire with new friends from all over the country. Jordans patience, kindness and knowledge surpassed all expectations. His brother Ben and childhood friend, John were both equally knowledgeable and were constantly going out of their way to lend a hand. This immersion course will be a week you will never forget and one you won’t want to end. Don’t hesitate no matter your skill level. Take the course! Take off on horseback, sleep under the stars and breathe in the wild mountain air with new friends. You won’t regret it!
This past July I was part of a group that participated in Jordan's Advanced Class. This was led by Jordan, along with his colleagues John, Nate, and Luke. All highly accomplished hunters and woodman. I cannot speak any more highly of this course. It was well planned, well led and worked hard to balance giving out a lot of information while at the same time allowing enough time to soak in the experience and put the lessons learned to work. The area we trained in was breathtaking for its beauty. And, for a flatlander from Nashville it was "breathtaking" to hike at 7,000-8,000 feet. This course could be as strenuous as you wanted it to be. All of us chose to push ourselves pretty hard, and for that we were rewarded with an amazing time. This is not the first survival course that I have participated in, but it is by far the best. I am deeply grateful to Jordan, Nate, John, Luke and Cameron Outfitters for a life changing experience.
John, Luke, Jordan and Ben are all passionate outdoorsmen who inspired me with their skills of and love for the great outdoors. I really enjoyed getting to know both Jordan and Ben, who have the most unique backgrounds of most anyone I’ve met. Jordan lived with the native Russian Siberian tribe called ‘the Evenki’ for years, and Ben spent 7 years riding trains all across the US. This provided some great stories that I loved listening to. I also admired both Jordan and Ben for their courage displayed on these adventures. I also thought the trip was very well structured and planned. It allowed opportunities to sit and learn, or do your own thing in the wilderness if you desired. For a more challenging activity, we were given the choice about whether we wanted to push ourselves in a difficult challenge or hang around the camp. All skill levels were accommodated. If you’re a born city slicker like me and were inspired by Jordan on alone, this is a great trip to to choose. ...
The 4 man team of instructors I experienced represented a Masterclass in humanity. Simply being around them will make you a better, more grateful person. If you have a concept in your mind of how Jordan will be, it will pale in comparison to personally experiencing his aura of competency and calm. His brother, Ben, is a combination of a mountain goat and the Dalai Lama. Their friend, John, will astound you not only with his hunting & fishing knowledge but also with his dedication to ensuring you are comfortable with every aspect of the wilderness skill you are trying to acquire. Luke Cameron is a master of knife sharpening, all types of game hunting, and is one of the most approachable and good natured people I have ever met. Nowhere will you find this combination of subject matter experts who care so deeply about every aspect of your experience.
I am certain that for as long as Jordan, Ben, John and co. run this course there will be only 5 stars reviews. It's as good as everyone says, and if you're thinking about going, you should.
Experience of a lifetime! I consider myself an avid outdoorsman and fisherman, and what I learned on this trip by far surpassed any of my previous knowledge. I now feel much more confident venturing out into the wilderness. A shout out to Jordan, Ben, John and all the like minded people I got to have this experience with. Also to Cameron Outfitters who are a hard working group that make sure you are taken care of. Definitely thinking about getting some buddies and heading back to a future course.
I feel so lucky to have been able to go on this wonderful adventure. Jordan is every bit as kind, funny & knowledgeable as you would think from watching him on Alone. His brother Ben is a revelation of wisdom & practical skills. And their friend, John, is an accomplished (and hilarious!) hunter & survivalist. What a privilege & pleasure it was to spend the week with them, as well as the awesome, diverse crew of adventure seekers who came together for this week in the wilderness. My intention was to challenge myself, face fears & work through discomfort. What I got was an unforgettable, challenging and deeply rewarding experience that I’ll never forget. At the end of our week together, I emerged with a sense of personal empowerment, a foundation of basic survival skills that I look forward to practicing & expanding on, and amazing memories that I will cherish forever. I cannot recommend this program highly enough. Thank you, Jordan!
This trip was truly incredible. We spent the week in pristine wilderness, surrounded by wildlife, views and endless opportunities to learn. Jordan, Ben and John are true experts, great teachers and put together an unforgettable experience.
I never had really camped before, so I wasn't sure what to expect on this trip. It surpassed all my expectations! Jordan, his brother Ben, and their high school friend Jon were absolutely amazing. We received deep, hands-on instruction on how to "handle" ourselves in the wilderness. We spent most of the time in a "base camp", but Jon, myself, and two other folks hiked out of camp for about 3 miles and spent a night fully living off the land. I highly recommend this trip... I would consider it a life-changing experience for me.
Jordan, as well as his brother Ben, and friend John, led an amazing trip into the Idaho mountains for us where we spent a week learning outdoor survival skills and experienced a remote wilderness few get the chance to see. On the trip we learned how to build a fire from scratch, tie our own flies, and catch fish with our own self-made fly rods, set traps and snares, and build shelters. All the of the skills we learned were practical and Jordan, as well as Ben and John, were great at giving everyone individual attention to ensure they were following along and learning at their own pace. Best of all, Jordan created a fun and relaxed environment throughout. Jordan's attitude translated throughout the experience. Always laughing and smiling, and finding ways to make each activity both interesting and fun. The Bitterroot area we were in was beautiful. We were even able to commune with wolves, hearing them howl at night and in the mornings.
Jordan and Cameron Outfitters with John and Oscar took us on a six day journey that I will hold in my heart forever. To put into words what it meant to me is next to impossible but here it goes. The wilderness including hiking up a mountain, climbing up rocks, jumping into a lake, sleeping in the woods and sitting around a camp fire has challenged me and taught me more about myself than anything else. Our group who we endured those challenges with I can now call my friends. Our teachers had patience with us and love for what they do. I am home now yet I miss them all and took with me something priceless... gratitude. Thank you all for these unforgettable days.
Truly an unforgettable, incredible experience! If you've ever wanted to do a survival course, or get more acquainted with the wilderness and make lifelong memories - definitely this course! Jordan is extremely knowledgeable, funny, genuine, resourceful and always comes up with a solution. After an epic 10 hr hike he took down a Marmot with a bow & arrow, skinned it & fried it up for us - was spectacular to watch. His assistant John was also amazing, so patient and enthusiastic and taught us so much. From fire building, to archery, snare traps, homemade fishing rods & flies, shelter building, essential knots, smoking fish, etc. In addition, the Cameron Outfitters (Gary, Luke, Duke & Oscar) did such a great job on guiding us through the wilderness on their horses and showing us the lay of the land, and were all so kind and gracious. The highlight was sitting around the campfire and laughing every night. Soul-filling, adventurous and you'll be sad to leave. #TeamMarmot
It's hard to put into words how amazing this experience was for me. The level of service and hospitality Jordan, John, and the Cameron's offered throughout the week was second to none. Gary, Duke, Luke & Oscar from Cameron Outfitters did a wonderful job getting us setup with our horses, packs, riding instructions, and leading us thru the wilderness. Both Jordan and John were amazing teachers throughout the week. Their enthusiasm for the wilderness and teaching others their knowledge was apparent each and everyday. They showed a tremendous amount of patience with the class, provided individual instruction when needed or asked for, and also gave us the space to try the skills they were teaching us on our own. Truly an experience that has made a profound impact on me. Looking forward to future classes! #TeamMarmot
I would give this survival course 10 stars out of 5 if I could. It was an incredible experience that I will cherish forever. Jordan is insanely knowledgeable and had an intelligent answer for every question that was asked. I went into this as an inexperienced person that loves the outdoors and left with the confidence to approach the wilderness without fear. It was the perfect combination of guidance to learn vital skills and freedom to enjoy the beautiful setting. Jordan brought along John Hale and his added knowledge, patience, and overall awesomeness was invaluable. They were both very humble, helpful, enthusiastic, and fun to be around. Also, Cameron Outfitters did a wonderful job of providing logistics and was very helpful along the way. They are all very nice people that will do their best to ensure a smooth experience. Many unforgettable memories and friends were made during this trip. If you get an opportunity to take this course, don’t pass it up!
I had a fantastic experience with Jordan and the Cameron Outfitters. The company is owned and operated by the Cameron family, who are lovely people that are skilled in hunting and guiding in the Selway-Bitterroot wilderness of Idaho. I took the wilderness survival course led by Jordan Jonas, where I learned hard skills in sustainable living in a primitive setting, including firestarting, fishing, trapping, crafting shelters, etc. I enjoyed the stories and lessons from the guides, and I met like-minded people from around the country who are interested in being connected to nature. I loved the experience so much, I will book a trip with them again!
This was an amazing experience. Jordan’s knowledge is impeccable, and when combined with his hospitality and genuine heart he creates an atmosphere that inspires one to simply be better. Not only in the wilderness, but in life. You can tell how extremely introspective Jordan is because one could not perform and adjust at such a high caliber level without such. Again, his ways will naturally meander into yours. At least they did for me in this course. I learned so much about nature, and myself. I highly recommend this course. Along with Jordan will surely be another instructor with similar traits as was John at our course. Another thing worth mentioning is Cameron Outfitters who host this course along with Jordan. It would be impossible without them and their service is top notch. They are a family that knows hard work better than any else, and it shows in the most compassionate way. 10/10 all around!
